What are some pro tips for the best enchiladas?
Good tortillas: The base of any enchilada is the tortilla, so you want to make sure you are using high-quality tortillas. Look for ones that are fresh and not stale, so they won’t break or tear when you roll them up.
Delicious filling: You can use any filling you like for your enchiladas, but it’s important to make sure it’s packed with flavor. Whether you’re using chicken, beef, cheese, or vegetables, season it well with spices and herbs to give it a bold taste. Also, a big tip is to not use ingredients that are too runny on the inside, but drained or thick, to prevent soggy enchiladas.
Proper assembly: When you’re rolling up your enchiladas, make sure to pack them tightly into the baking dish so they don’t come apart when you serve them. So be sure to place them crease-down!
Finishing touches: Once your enchiladas are baked and hot, it’s time to add some finishing touches. Ideas for toppings are shredded cheese, fresh cilantro, diced onions, and a dollop of sour cream for a delicious and satisfying meal.
Do I cook enchiladas covered or uncovered?
Covering enchiladas before baking is an essential step in ensuring that they come out perfectly. The most common method is to use aluminum foil. To cover enchiladas with aluminum foil, you will need to first assemble your enchiladas in a baking dish. Then, tear off a sheet of aluminum foil that is large enough to cover the entire dish. Place the foil over the top of the dish, making sure to crimp the edges tightly around the edges of the dish to create a seal.
The purpose of covering the enchiladas with foil is to prevent the cheese and filling from drying out while it bakes. It also allows the enchiladas to cook evenly and helps to lock in the flavors of the dish. Once you have covered the enchiladas with foil, place the dish in the oven and bake according to your recipe’s instructions. When it’s time to remove the foil, carefully peel it away from the dish and discard the foil. Your delicious enchiladas are now ready to be served!
