Lasagna is a dish that holds a special place in my heart. For me, it is a beloved staple in our home and in my childhood. I love everything about it – the savory layers of pasta, the rich tomato sauce, the gooey cheese that melts in my mouth. Lasagna brings back warm memories of cozy family dinners, laughter, and love shared over a meal.
As I grew up, I learned to make it myself and even put my own spin on the classic recipe. I especially wanted to take some of the labor out of the recipe and make it more accessible for families like mine—always on the go! That is when I created this Delicious One Pan Stove Top Lasagna. Even the heaviest, traditional skeptics in my family loved it!
Lasagna for Lazy Nights
Lasagna is delectable and filling, but it’s a dish that can take a lot of time and effort to make. So, if you don’t have the time, or you just don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen, there are a few shortcuts you can take to make a tasty lasagna in no time.
- Use no-boil lasagna noodles. These noodles don’t require pre-boiling!
- Use store-bought sauce. There are many great, quality options for jarred pasta sauce that can save you time and still taste marvelous.
- Use a combination of ricotta and mozzarella cheese instead of making a traditional bechamel sauce. Using this cheese combo will cut down on time and effort but will still give you all the needed cheesy goodness.
Overall, making lasagna when you’re feeling time-strapped or lazy is all about finding shortcuts that work for you. Feel free to make your own adjustments! I like to make a small trial dish when I’m trying something new with a recipe. So, if you’re not sure something will work or taste how you envision, I recommend making it small first.
Can I Customize Lasagna?
Lasagna is a classic Italian dish that can be customized to suit any taste preference. Here are some delicious and popular ingredients you can add to your lasagna:
- Veggies: You can add vegetables like spinach, zucchini, eggplant, mushrooms, bell peppers, and onions to your lasagna to make it healthier and more flavorful.
- Meat: Ground beef, sausage, or shredded chicken can be added to your lasagna. If you don’t eat meat, you can of course leave it out and add more veggies!
- Cheese: Lasagna is all about the cheese! Try adding different types of cheese like mozzarella, parmesan, ricotta, and cheddar to create a creamy and cheesy lasagna.
- Herbs and spices: Add flavor to your lasagna with herbs and spices like basil, oregano, and garlic. Or spice it up with something like red pepper flakes.
- Sauces: To create a unique and delicious lasagna, try different sauces like tomato, Alfredo, or pesto sauce.
Remember, the beauty of lasagna is that it’s one of those dishes you can get creative with and add your favorite ingredients to make it your own!
